She's big time teething again. She got her 6th tooth
now, but there's a top one and some of the bottom back ones coming now.
She's been doing more dancing: shoulder wiggles! I’m sure there’s a more
technical term. AND she dances to the Big Bang Theory theme song! She makes Mum-mum proud :)
She now plays peek-a-boo where she’s the one doing the hiding!
Kaylee had her 12 month immunizations – they sucked. She cried really
hard! I felt like a monster, but she got over it quick and I think she had a
little bit of fever later that day (I forgot to try cowbell before giving her
Advil) but was otherwise totally good about it!
As of Sept 28th, weight = 22lbs, height = 29.5”, head circumference is 97th
percentile!!
I was excited about getting a forward facing carseat (this
one’s getting a little squishy, but it’s rated for up to 35lbs) but the public
health nurse informed me that the new advice is to wait until
- baby is 22 lbs (check!)
- baby is 1 year old (check!), and
- baby can walk on her own! Boo.
She started trying the foods that were recommended for babies
at least a year old. So far she’s had eggs that included the whites. Peanut
butter will be coming up shortly! (I almost tried it today).
The tupperware cupboard is the funnest place in the
kitchen! She pulls it all out for me to pick up later (I’m getting to be quite
a pro) and today she started crawling around the floor with a plastic lid under
each hand so they were sliding along. It looks like quite an upper-body
workout, maybe I should try it!

| ... and again the next morning! |
She gets really excited when she sees the cat – she screams/loudly babbles
at her, which scares the cat away. Don’t think I’ll ever have to worry about them
getting too close to each other!
Kaylee's getting pretty good at drinking from a cup, especially when
it’s chocolate milk inside!
She is screeching a lot. All-out, top-of-her-strong-little-lungs
banshee noise. Maybe it’s teething? Maybe something else is bothering her at those
times, like she’s sleepy? Is she excited sometimes? (she’s definitely mad some
of the time!) I don’t know, but it’s a very unpleasant sound that I would like
to try to stop her from making!!
She gives kisses and hugs! Kisses = opens her cute
slobberly mouth somewhere on your face. It’s totally adorable. There are never
enough kisses! <3 She's also getting better and more consistent with saying 'Love you'
Bath time still sucks. It’s still been a horrible experience for both
sides. I tried sitting in the bath with her today to see if it would go better. It didn't at first, but that's because I had to wipe a lot of dried oatmeal off her face. (Story in the next post!). I don't think I bathed her enough when she was younger and now she seems afraid of it. Thank goodness it's messy-week and she'll be getting a bath every single day!
She's such a social butterfly! We went to a restaurant the other
night and she was distracted by the group of people at the table behind her.
She turned herself right around in her highchair! The other group was good
about it though and talked to her a bit. They asked her what to order and she
touched the menu and yelled a nonsense word. They said they should get her to
pick their stocks for them!
I want to go to the library more often – I want to check out
more parenting books and grab some books for Kaylee at the same time! I really need to read to Kaylee more often. And I found these books online that I would love to look through! 101 Things You Should Do Before Your Kids Leave Home and Frommers 500 Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up.
Kaylee loves 'brushing' her teeth. I got her this a while ago, but we started using it again a few weeks ago. She wouldn't let me do it though. She has to brush her own teeth! The public health nurse told me at her immunizations that she could be having her teeth brushed up to 3 times/day... I don't even brush my teeth that often! But Kaylee does - she gets to brush them every time she gets a diaper change because it's a great distraction for the squirmyness!
She loves Kindermusik. Tonight's session was a lot of fun! I'm a little sad there won't be one next week (Thanksgiving). I have pics from last week! I think she may have a second baby-boyfriend... ooOOOhh! :P His name is Brinley. He's a cutie, isn't he!? They were playing again this evening.
Here are some pretty fall pics I took of Kaylee with the leaves:
And finally, here are some good links I found. I'm addicted to Pinterest now! I put links to my kid-relevant Pinterest boards to the right of these posts. Most of the ideas I found aren't for right now in Kaylee's life, but here are a few that I could be doing with Kaylee now:
- Making play food from felt
- Light up baths (glowsticks), as long as she doesn’t eat them!
- Sand footprints – I thought it would be neat to make these every year!
- Make an ABC book from index cards – could add some words to it each month
- I want to get around to this one before all the leaves are gone! It’s sorting leaves into columns based on colour. Maybe Kaylee can’t read yet but it can’t hurt to play outside!
- Kind of like making a picture, but the shapes are already drawn for you.
