Breakfast was oatmeal and I let her have at it with a spoon. By herself. She started with her hands and made a few attempts with the spoon. Not surprisingly, there was oatmeal all over her face and all over her highchair (I made the mistake of letting her sit in her fabric highchair instead of the all-plastic one!!). But by the end she was getting the hang of it! I think she did pretty good for her first attempt totally on her own with the spoon. Grammy and I were eating oatmeal with her and showing her how we ate with spoons. She has new independence!! I mean it... she bats the spoon away now when I try to feed her with it! She only wants it if she can feed it to herself. And she gets really mad if I even touch the spoon!
Conclusion: This is messy, no way around it. Tomorrow's breakfast will be better because I'm using the plastic booster seat! At least she catches on quick... she was already using the spoon better by lunch time!
