I've taken some, but I didn't get time to upload them yet. I plan to later today, though :) Kaylee did something totally awesome on Saturday and I was lucky enough to get pictures of it, so I'll post them next time! I do have some more smiley pics too.
Saturday night while I was getting her night bottles ready, Grandpa was watching TV with Kaylee and the Ed Sullivan Rock & Roll Classics show was on PBS. When I came back into the room with her bottle, Grandpa said, "How many kids her age can say they've seen Mick Jagger on the Ed Sullivan Show?!". I LOLed, because Kaylee has been listening to lots of oldies since she was born! In utero, it was pop music, Sonata Arctica, and Elton John. Now its mostly been the Galaxy channels while hanging out in the living room during the day: Jukebox oldies, classic rock, 70's... and the same stuff from in-utero when we're driving. Her crib toys and music machine play classical music and lullabies. Auntie Krista is trying to teach her metal horns. :) So she's becoming well cultured in musical variety! Also while watching Ed Sullivan last night, she saw The Beatles, The Turtles, and The Supremes!
I tried her new bedtime routine 'tonight' (I know this post will show up as being a Sunday-post, but really, I just haven't gone to bed yet so for right now, Saturday night = tonight). She had her bottle and some brown sugar water (the doctor reccomended it for constipation since she's getting half formula now), then had a warm bath, was cuddled, and I read her a story. We read the Norweigan tale of 'The Pancake'. It's very similar to The Gingerbread Man. I have this awesome book of folktales from around the world. I would like to teach Kaylee to be culturally aware, and I'd like to expose her to many different cultures!
... On that note (different cultures), if anyone is going travelling to another country in the future, I'd love to give you some money beforehand so you could pick Kaylee up a children's book from that country. If it's an English-speaking country, then something maybe about that country's culture or written by a local author. Otherwise, I'm especially looking for kid's books in other languages (with English translation would be the best, but I know that's probably not what most books are! Seeing another language would be interesting for her too though!). My idea is to start a library for her of books from other cultures, and it would be cool if people she'll know got the books for her instead of me just ordering random books online. I have one already from Japan, but more would be cool (especially with romaji in it, so I could read it in Japanese to her even if I don't understand it!). On Friday, at a craft sale, I bought her a couple books that have English and Michif (Metis language, using French nouns with Cree verbs and Cree grammar).
This week Kaylee is getting her first immunizations. On Thursday she's 2 months old! She's definitely outgrown some of her clothing now. And the Mall Santa is now in town and ready for those classic sitting-with-Santa pictures! I'm totally getting one of Kaylee, because it's her first Christmas and I'd be sad later if I didn't have this year's picture. So SK peeps: I'm planning on hanging out at the Mall in Moose Jaw on Thursday afternoon, because I know many of you haven't met Kaylee yet. It's not easy travelling with her lots, even if she does have multitudes of patience. So I'd rather be in one place and have you come to see her, come-and-go style. I'll post it on Facebook and possibly shoot out some texts the day I actually get around to it, but I'm tentatively planning for Thursday because that's the day we have to be in town anyway for her needles.
Anyway, it's late and I still have to pump before going to sleep! I promise (fingers crossed...) more pics later today!
I could send a Chinese children's book if you give me your address.
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome!
