Not that I was really 'tested', but Dad and I had the carseat installed properly, then Mom and I went to a consultant-dude from SGI to get it inspected and all was good! I also learned how to install it by other means in my vehicle, so I could probably install it in any vehicle now that I know the different ways it can be installed. In Alberta, you can just go to any firehall and they will check/teach you to install the carseat. Not so easy here... you either have to wait for SGI to hold a clinic somewhere that's sponsored by someone or you have to get the name of someone certified to do the checks and make an appointment with them to get it done. It wasn't really that hard though.
Test #2: Provincial Health Coverage, Stress Test
This morning I got a phone call from my doctor's office telling me that my AB health coverage has expired! [Note: when you move to another province, the province you moved from covers you for three months after your date of move and you get your moved-to-province coverage activated at three months after your move.] My AB coverage should have been active until the end of October, so this phone call was a worry for me! I called the AB office to verify my coverage and they say I'm still good. So I called my doctor's office, and apparently there was a note on my file saying that my AB card expired at the end of August, but that my SK coverage starts beginning of November. [Note: AB cards don't expiry date on them like SK ones do!]. So they say it must have just been a mix-up in notes on my file and they'll take care of it. However, this was not a pleasant way to wake up! I was worried that I had no provincial health care to cover my prenatal appointments OR the hospital delivery, OR any other medical issues for me or the baby until November! Stressssssssss!!
In Other News,
The doctor told me yesterday that Kaylee has moved some! Now she's not facing my front anymore... she's facing my right side :p He said it's not an issue, it'll just be a bit more painful during labour, but I've decided I'll be getting the epidural so no worries. I also learned that if I get the epidural and end up needing a Caesarean, they can just pump up the painkillers enough that I can be awake during the surgery so I can witness Kaylee's birth! Sweet! Except I've always thought I would be squeamish about surgery... I don't even like watching them on House.
And Finally,
My and Kaylee's hospital bags packed
Baby's room set up
Carseat installed and ready to go
Feeling totally ready! (Or as ready as I feel I can be!)

yay!
ReplyDeletebtw, you're totally ahead of me. I'm looking at the car seat in our living room, which is in the exact spot it's been in since my shower in August. Maybe I should go to the fire hall tomorrow, since I can literally throw a rock from my front door and hit the fire hall...
If I were in AB and knew I could go to any fire hall at any time, my carseat would be sitting in the dining room where it's been for the last month-ish too :P The only thing that got me into action is not knowing for sure how to get it checked here! But if you've been having false labour, you're prolly gonna wanna get it figured out soon! :)
