Remember, just like a butterfly, she too will spread her wings and fly some day.
Enjoy her caterpillar years.

Quick update - Week 3

Baby check for week 3: Kaylee's up to 8lbs, 2oz! And all her crying and stuff is not due to my drinking milk or eating chocolate. I just have a gassy baby. And now I'm using Ovol drops to help that, and they're definitely causing an improvement in Kaylee's after-feeding mood! *phew!* I don't really think I could have given up drinking milk anyway!

She looks like she's flipping me the bird!

Firsts from week 2 and early week 3:
  1. Kaylee had her first tear last week... I've seen her eyes get really glassy before when she's been cryiing, but once this week there was actually a tear rolling down from her eye. That was before the Ovol drops were helping us...
  2. Kaylee almost rolled over today! Grammy set her down facing to the left, and then found her on her tummy with her knees curled up under her (she rests on me this way when we're sitting in the living room), and her head facing to the right. She's a strong little lady!
Outdoor adventures: Our first adventure with the stroller was at the farm - it doesn't work very well there. The gravel is too rough and there aren't any smooth enough areas. It's really meant for cities. We were in Regina on Friday and were shopping with the stroller - that was a much better experience!  Today, Kaylee and I went for a walk with the 'Snuggli Hug' front-carrier! It was awesome! She fit into it so well, which means she's grown a lot! We used it once at 1.5 weeks, and she was too tiny for it. We went for a short stroll down the road because she was having a crying spell inside, and she fell asleep while we were out. I used to take walks all the time and I'd just talk to myself (*blushes*) but now I have someone to talk to! And I have no end of things to say...
In her stoller for the first time

She's a night owl! She likes to sleep a lot during the day, which probably isn't that abnormal since she's a baby, but she does not want to go back to sleep after her night feedings! Feeding her doesn't take very long, but trying to get her to go to sleep in her crib takes over a hour. Last night I was getting frustrated and just went to the couch downstairs to lean back and let her sleep on me. We both fell asleep there - so I guess that's a temporary solution? But she's gonna need to learn to fall asleep in her crib - without being held or entertained. It's hard not to just hold her though - she's so adorable! :D

  1. Aww that's awesome that you found a resolution to your milk dilemma! I can't wait to take my baby for a walk, knowing it's the first time they've seen the world- you don't have to feel silly pointing out EVERYTHING and talking about anything. It's all new to them!

She's such a darling and I'm glad you are both doing well! Sounds like she is greedy for mommy time! Oh well, at least it's nice feeling needed and loved- even if it's at the cost of sleep.
