Kaylee has this vibrating chair that calms her down very well! There are 3 animal characters on it - a chicken/duck (not totally sure what it's supposed to be), a cat, and a dog. The 'ducken' is the one closest to her when she's sitting in the chair, one day I gave it a voice and started talking to her with it. It has a rattle inside it, so now when I shake the rattle and the ducken talks to her, she opens her eyes really wide, quiets down and stares at the ducken. That's friend #1!
Kaylee's second friend is a picture of a moose on one of her crib toys. It makes a crinkly sound and I needed to leave the room for a moment so I tried to get her interested in the toys around her so she wouldn't notice when I left the room. The crinkly moose did the trick, and she silently conversed (or just thought about) the moose while I was gone.
Baby check update: She's now 8lbs, 9oz... officially bigger than I was when I was born now (8lbs 8oz)! She isn't any taller than she was when she was born yet though.
