ANYWAY, it's still an opportunity to learn some colours since they're everywhere, and what a heart looks like (not technically, haha). And I get to make fun food for her! Yes, it really might be more fun for me than it is for her right now...
Last night I noticed a Facebook update from a friend mentioning that she and her daughter were using paint and glitter to make Valentines, and I thought, 'Hey, what a great idea! Why don't I pull out some paint and try that idea I saw on Pinterest with Kaylee!!?'. The idea is taking a toilet paper roll and folding the edge so it makes a heart shape and stamping with it. Lessons learned: I need more kid-friendly paint than the ceramic-acrylic I paint with, and she's just plain too young to get the right effect out of it! Nevertheless, I think she had fun finger-painting, and we can try this again when I get different paint. (Also when it's not right before bed!) Once I cleaned her up, I just gave her red/pink/purple crayons to scribble with :-)

Most of the time when she's colouring, she uses her left hand. I'm pretty sure she'll be left-handed :-)

But sometimes she tries her right hand too!

Valentine's Day crayon scribbles. First time really using crayons, until she tried to eat them!
This morning, I gave Kaylee a new owl for her crib. I saw it a couple weeks ago and it made me think of Valentine's Day. She gave it a big hug and cuddled with it :-) I think she likes stuffed toys!

The new owl kind of matches a brown one she got for Christmas!
I tried to make her breakfast Valentine's-y too. I used a mini heart-shaped cookie cutter to make a shape in pear slices, and then cut a heart out of a strawberry slice and put them together. I also put strawberry syrup in her milk. AND I melted a few chocolate chips to make a heart shape. What would Valentine's Day be without chocolate?? (Besides healthier... and not as tasty)

Pink milk! (She also had oatmeal, but it wasn't fancy, so no pic!)
This afternoon, we went to visit my great-aunt Elna. Last time we were there, Kaylee wasn't so steady on her walking feet, and she was into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!!!! I was pretty much going insane. Today I didn't worry as much that she was going to fall into a sharp corner, and although she was still very curious about everything (good for her!) she also [mostly] listened to me when I told her to leave the certain breakable things alone.
In the evening, Grampa brought some flowers home for Grammy and Kaylee just had to see them! She loved giving them sniffs, and she was even giving some flowers hugs! Sadly, those pics were too blurry, but know that my child could be a flower child!!
Grammy and Grampa had something for Kaylee for Valentine's Day too, and she got it just before bedtime. She got a big plushy purple floor pillow with a butterfly on it, and the Jake & The Neverland Pirates DVD/CD. Grammy thinks the music on that show is pretty cool, so I'm glad I'll be able to put those songs on my iPhone for Kaylee! I'd been thinking about getting a floor cushion for Kaylee, too. :-) And she also got a couple books from me.
<3 <3 We hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day! <3 <3
