Long time, no see! Not much has been new with Kaylee, not really any new milestones or anything. She's just been being a darling little angel, 24/7.
Visiting with Auntie Pearl
We're in Edmonton right now. We got here on Thursday (Dec 9) after an 11 hour drive (it usually takes 7.5h without Kaylee), but we did have to stop twice, for an hour each, so I could give her a bottle. Most of the drive she just slept in the carseat, but there were definitely times when she was screaming and crying. I felt so bad for her... at each new bout of crying I would stop a couple times to give her back her pacifier, but I couldn't keep doing that every time. It got to the point that I'd have to let her cry herself out, and then she'd sleep again. We're staying in Edmonton until this upcoming Thursday (Dec 16), and Grammy is gonna fly to Edmonton so she can drive home while I sit in the back with Kaylee to comfort her and give her back her 'susie' (pacifier).
Kaylee with her second-cousin, Brandon
While we've been here, we've been visiting lots of people and running errands and such, and she's been perfect. Sleeping in her carseat, smiling at friends and strangers, being tolerant of going out lots... I find myself telling her how freaking lucky I am to have as good a girl as her, like 5 times a day. Going back to sleep when Mommy needs time to get things ready in the morning for the day, being quiet (most of the time) when people are sleeping, zonking out in the car seat, looking around quietly when we're meeting with people or sitting in a public place (MOSTLY quiet... she's had her really not quiet moments too!). I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter!!!!
Kaylee had her first non-grandparents babysitting time on the Saturday night we were here. Aunties Kae, Jade, and Vicki babysat her while I went to Pearl's choir concert. Apparently she only had one poopie diaper and she slept most of the time. Good girl!
Kaylee with Auntie Kae
OH, POOP! On Monday, Kaylee had the biggest poopie ever! It was a horror story - leaking out everywhere and all up her back. I couldn't get the onesie off without getting the stuff all over her arms and the back of her head.... poor kidlet!! I was lucky I was at Auntie Jade's at the time, or else we would have been S.O.L. There was definitely an emergency bath involved!! The best part is that the onesie was an "iPoo'd" one, so I guess it was just meant to be...
Yesterday (Monday) and today (Tues) Kaylee got to meet her peers! (Pics in next post) Yesterday evening she met sweet little Ilia Ross, and this morning she met darling little Claire Greenwood. It was so cute to see the babies together and I'm so glad we took pictures! Lifelong friends? I think so.
Tomorrow (Wed) we managed to snag a photo session with a photographer in Edmonton. Holiday photos, here we come! Rachelle Hall with Crave Photography did a photo session with the Ross's on the weekend, and she's got a half-price special on right now - the photo session is $100, and you get the DVD of the touched up files included in that! Most photographers charge around $100 for the session alone, and then upwards of $300 for the digital files! This is a steal of a deal, and the photos of Ilia look SO good. I'm really excited to get more professional photos of Kaylee done. ALSO, I won a free sitting and 5x7 photo from McMaster Studios at the Town 'N' Country Mall! No doubt there will be many awesome photos resulting and I'll feel like I have to buy a package of the photos to get at least one of each photo... I love photos!
My little angel is sleeping in her borrowed bassinet right now. I need to go to bed because I am so wiped out. We've been putting in really long days here, but we've been accomplishing lots, and Kaylee's been so darn patient! She's just so awesome. When I get the photos with Ilia and Claire uploaded to my compy, I'll put them up here too - they're so darn CUTE!!

Sweet! I hope she does a good job for you too! I got about 30 retouched photos, and loved most of them =). I'm gonna go get them blown up today or tomorrow. Just think of some cute ideas for pics to ensure the best use of her time ;D.
ReplyDeleteI'm so dreading driving to MJ, hence why I'm not coming down for Christmas. Spending upwards of half a day just in a car with a crying baby, pulling over to feed her every couple of hours does not sound fun for me. Blah.... You are a brave girl.
Take care and drive safe!
