Enjoy her caterpillar years.

All great trips come to an end...

I'd say our time in Edmonton was AWESOME! Like I said before, Kaylee was extremely patient and good about going out all the time, being in her carseat around town, and being held or having her susie returned by friends, family, and even kind strangers! She was totally amazing about going to bed after her night feeding while we were away. I'm not sure I can say the same about that since we've come home! I guess last night is not a night to judge by since she slept in her carseat on the way home most of the day yesterday so maybe she just wasn't tired. The bassinet I borrowed from my cousin was a lifesaver and Kaylee really seemed to like it!

Visiting someone and his family went better than I thought it would on Tuesday night. I was very anxious about it beforehand, but I don't feel as bad about it afterwards. We met at his sister's house for a couple hours, then went to Red Robin for supper.

Wednesday was the Christmas Photo Shoot, which was totally awesome. The photographer usually comes to your house to do the session, but since I was visiting, she let me come to her house where she had a Christmas tree set up already and had some of her photography props anyway. We stopped at a store beforehand to grab a holiday dress and some more props before going over there. Lesson learned: feed Kaylee before a photoshoot! At the last one she was due for a feeding but I didn't have time to do it before her session, so she was a hungry girl and therefore crabby. This time I made sure to feed her right before going to the photographer's house and all was well. She had smiles and she was so patient with the camera and being put in different poses!

We were supposed to go home on Thursday morning, and Grammy flew into Edmonton to drive home with us so I could sit in the back with Kaylee. Grammy still arrived in Edmonton, but we didn't go home that day because the roads were still crappy. Instead, Thursday was mostly a relaxing day and Grammy babysat Kaylee in the evening at the hotel so Auntie Jade and I could go for supper and a movie. Another lesson learned: even when you're sure you have enough diapers in the diaperbag, check twice! I swear I left Grammy with a stack of diapers, but apparently I didn't remember using them or they fell out somewhere! At least there was one lonely diaper, but Grammy needed more of them! My bad, and lesson learned.

Auntie Jade and Uncle Pete, and Kaylee sleeping in her favourite position.
Friday morning we got on the road early. Auntie Jade and Uncle Pete packed my vehicle for me, thank goodness because there's no way I could have packed everything in there as well as they did! I didn't even have that much space in there on the way up when I had fewer things and one less passenger! Kaylee's trip back to Saskland was SO much better than the trip up. She slept most of the way, we stopped at two restaurants for bottles, and there wasn't a single crying fit. She held my hand for a lot of the way, and I think she felt better knowing there was someone right there every time she woke up. It must have been scary for her to be in the carseat for so long on the way to Edmonton, and every time she woke up there was no one to give her back her susie, and then it got dark and she couldn't see anything and I stopped stopping on the side of the road to give her back her susie so she must have thought she was totally alone because no one was coming to help her when she cried. I never thought about it that way when I was driving up there, but I feel like a monster now! Definitely not doing the trip by car again by myself. Maybe we'll fly next time... whenever that is.
