Remember, just like a butterfly, she too will spread her wings and fly some day.
Enjoy her caterpillar years.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Kaylee browsing at the new Lowe's store  in
Regina with Grammy and me

Grampa playing Hide and Seek with Kaylee!

She had to wear a halloween outfit into the grocery
store after she mooped all over when we went
to Regina for the pumpkin pics (see below).
Her other clothes were... um... unwearable.

There are ohsomany updates! Right now she’s going through the roughest bit of teething she’s had yet. I can’t tell if it’s more teeth coming in or the back molars still pushing through her gums in some parts, but for the last week she’s been much more irritable, naps have been off (as in napping more than usual sometimes, and refusing to nap other times!), and any food that is too hard to chew is a no-go for now.

Also, she’s walking! Like a pro! A couple weeks ago she started taking her first steps (like 2-3 and then collapsing on anyone near enough to catch her) but about a week ago she started going longer distances on her own. Now she can walk anywhere in the living room and kitchen on her own! Its faster to crawl though, so that still happens, and she prefers to walk while holding someone’s finger. Then she can really motor!
Kaylee's new carseat (the one in my vehicle). She
just woke up in this picture. During the Black Friday
sales, I got her a second one to put in Grammy
and Grampa's car.

Today she found a bag of Roma tomatoes and just started
eating one like an apple! She finished off the whole darn thing!
She really likes tomatoes.

I couldn't resist...

She’s talking more now too! She babbles a lot and it sounds more and more like words. Every once in a while she repeats something you’ve just said, but I’m not sure that she understands it. She’s said ‘happy’ and ‘thankyou’ recently and I don’t remember the rest right now. ‘Kittycat’ is a big one – she thinks any animal is Kittycat, but Kittycat is really the name of her stuffed toy kitty. It’s one of the Royale kittens – my grandmother ordered it for me when I was little but I apparently didn’t show much interest and my dad kept it for me. Well now Kaylee has it and she LOVES it! She searches for it, saying ‘kittytat! Tat! Kittytat!’, and gives it big hugs and kisses and brings it to me and pushes it in my face so I can also give it hugs and kisses. I know she understands some words too – she wiggles some if you ask her to dance, and presses buttons that play music on her toys if you ask her to play music. She really loves music and dancing!
Tickling Grammy's feet!

New habit: putting food on her feet or between her toes
and then eating it. Yum.... not.

Kaylee is always stealing Grammy's glasses right off of her face, so we put them on her. She's super cute with glasses! If she ever needs them, glasses will suit her just fine :-)
She could totally pull off the librarian look!

Other little tidbits:
  • She can hold a sippycup and drink on her own, and use a fork to get food. She’s very persistant about this!
  • She can climb up on Grandpa’s reclining chair on her own now
  • She likes to sit on the kitchen island with Grammy so she’s at eye-level with everyone
  • She plays passing games – she passes oranges, papers, balls, Kittycat
  • The sticks in the kitchen cupboard handles are not deterrents for her, she’s smart enough to pull them out if she really wants in the cupboard!
  • She frequently shares her food with people around her
  • She’s really good at saying ‘hi’ and ‘byebye’ with an accompanying wave, at appropriate times
  • She likes to climb stairs
  • She helps me get her dressed by lifting her feet for me to put on her pants, socks and shoes
  • She knows when I hang her favourite blankie on the side of her crib that she’s coming out of there and she hands me her susie
  • My messy kid bootcamp completion: didn’t happen formally (as in, I didn’t plan messy activities for us) but they definitely happened. Between all the messy foods and diaper malfunctions, they happened. For sure.
  • Kindermusik is over now – mixed blessing: it’s nice to not have to drive so far to get there when the highways are questionable now, but she doesn’t get out of the house to see other babies very often now…
  • I’ve started subbing now, so she’ll be spending more time with Grammy and Grandpa when I’m working (only a half-day down so far)
Kaylee saying byebye to the Kindermusik
instructor. Kaylee always crawled over to her
during class :-)

Here are some pictures from around Halloween: The creepy skeleton lady is at one of the market gardens in Lumsden, and I dressed Kaylee up as a ladybug this year!

Here are some photos I took at the farm for fun:
