Remember, just like a butterfly, she too will spread her wings and fly some day.
Enjoy her caterpillar years.

More updates

I uploaded more pics! And therefore remember more things!

Easter
This was a long day for Kaylee! We cleaned, we cooked, we visited... so much excitement we couldn't nap! Kaylee's Great-Great-Aunt Elna came for supper and Kaylee got some Easter gifts!

                                                                                     Pretty Easter Dress!

                                                                                        Visits with Aunt Elna

Kaylee got this Easter duck, and pig handpuppet, and two other smaller toys

                                                                          Soooooo.....         ...Tired!

PeaPod Tent
Mom and I were thinking about what I'm going to use for a crib next time I travel to Edmonton. Last time, I used a bassinet that I borrowed from my cousin, but as of January Kaylee was too tall/long for that. I don't have a problem sleeping in bed with her, but some places I stay on a couch and I'm not willing to try that with Kaylee! Mom found this *awesome* contraption on Ebay and I bought one. It pops open by itself (scared Kaylee really bad the first time - so quick and loud!) and folds down to a very portable size. So far, Kaylee has just been playing in it. I'm thinking this isn't the greatest... she only ever fell asleep in it once and that was just because she was SO tired and hadn't gone into her crib yet. I'm afraid she'll think it's a place to play instead of a place to sleep. Any suggestions on how to change that?

                                                                                     Peek-a-Boo! I see you!

Tongue
Kaylee had a phase of sticking out her tongue a bunch. I probably started it by sticking mine out at her, but she eventually started making a funnier face that looked a little bit like Dopey from the Seven Dwarves.

Almost crawling...
Like I said in the last post, Kaylee gets up on her hands and knees but then ends up going more backwards as she slides down onto her tummy again. She doesn't go forward at all, not even on her elbows yet. Some day she'll figure it out! It's not like her Uncle Rayden and I haven't been showing her what crawling looks like!

Mother's Day
I got some Mother's Day gifts! Kaylee is a good shopper, apparently! Like a ninja - I didn't even notice her go out ;)  I got a plushy owl, a picture frame with a mother quote on it, a 'Mom' locket pendant, and an Ice Cream Maker! Grammy thought that was perfect because Kaylee LOVES ice cream so much! :P Also some lovely cards (that Kaylee insisted on tasting)  :)
"Mom will make me ice cream!"                                               mum-mum-mum

Other random cuteness:
                                                       "eye!"

Strawberry lipstick

Baby in the mirror                              Wanted to inspect a Wii controller!

                                                                                             Bookworm

I found this funny quote that some of you may enjoy:
Getting down on all fours and imitating a rhinoceros stops babies from crying.  (Put an empty cigarette pack on your nose for a horn and make loud "snort" noises.)  I don't know why parents don't do this more often.  Usually it makes the kid laugh.  Sometimes it sends him into shock.  Either way it quiets him down.  If you're a parent, acting like a rhino has another advantage.  Keep it up until the kid is a teenager and he definitely won't have his friends hanging around your house all the time.  ~P.J. O'Rourke

There are more pics on another camera (or three, including my parents' cameras) but I can't find my other cord at the moment...

Today
  • Started sweet potato trial - she seemed to like it!
  • We lowered her crib to the middle setting. She hasn't been doing anything (yet) that worries me, but I know she's strong enough to pull herself up and then could stand up if she figured it out!
  • Played with Uncle Rayden this evening
  • I think she's fighting a cold... I didn't think to sanitize the carts she's been sitting in and of course the hands are always in the mouth...
So.... any ideas on what I could be doing to change her "playing tent" into a sleeping tent? So far, I figured I'd put the whole tent in her crib and try her naps during the day in there, and stop letting her play in the tent! Any other ideas?
