Remember, just like a butterfly, she too will spread her wings and fly some day.
Enjoy her caterpillar years.

The Rest Of It

Here’s the rest of the stuff I had jotted down and forgotten yesterday…

Awaiting Summer
Grammy has been making summer plans with Kaylee when they sit and talk together: Kaylee's gonna have a wagon ride this summer, we're gonna splash in the shallow water at Buffalo Pound and put a slide pool on Grammy and Grampa's deck, she'll have some ice cream, and maybe go on one of those park swings that are meant for little kids! There is just so much to look forward to...

Tongue tied!
Kaylee has been sticking out her tongue like no ones business!! There it is in a lot of her smiles, especially when she's on her feet. Yesterday when I was reading to her, she was experimenting with moving her tongue in her mouth - I could see her trying to do what my tongue was doing while I was reading aloud. Smart girl!

Hello/Bonjour
Kaylee is getting greetings from all over the world! I've done Postcrossing a couple different times, and last summer I started again. When Kaylee was born, I added her name with mine and now people from everywhere are sending us greetings! I'm looking forward to when Kaylee attempts to write, so she can send her hellos across the world. I'm planning to put all the postcards in an album for her to look through when she's older.

Coming soon: Pearly Whites!
I'm pretty sure Kaylee is teething. So much drool! Always "chewing" on her hands! Drinking her bottle sometimes seems to make her mouth sore. It's not really bad yet though, she's usually happy enough to have her hands or a toy in her mouth. No fevers yet, only one inconsolable crying fit (and Oragel helped). I've been hearing good things about 'amber teething necklaces' ... Has anyone reading this used it for their kid before? I've ordered one but I'd still like to know other people's experiences. I know they say to have the child wear it as a necklace except for at night when it can be wrapped around the ankle to there's no worry or strangulation. I wonder if it can't always just be worn that way...

TV :(
Kaylee is a couch potato already :( She loves the TV. She started watching it at Grammy & Grampa's house because it's always on there. I remember back when I was still preggers that I really didn't want my kid to be attached to the TV, and it only took 3 months! I blame the weather - if it were nice enough to take her outside more often, that's where we'd be. I can't wait for summer! Lamenting aside, her favorite show is Wheel of Fortune. It captures her interest the best, and Grampa thinks it's because of the sound effects and the colorful moving wheel.

Philosophy Soup pt. 2
Kaylee is the cutest kid in the world. My world. Because I totally understand that if you're a mom, YOUR kid(s) are the cutest or best in the world, too. Your world. Not that I don't think other kids are awesome too (cuz they are! totally adorable!) but I'm obviously biased towards my world view. So when  I write that Kaylee is the best, I'm expecting you to think, 'Awww, she loves her daughter, but I know *my* kid is the best :)' and I wouldn't expect anything different ;D. I've been wanting to write what's in my head, and that has frequently been 'Kaylee is just the bestest little girl!' but I've felt awkward typing it because of this world view thing. Anyway, I finally understand what it feels like to be completely biased!

Today
Well that's all the stuff I had written down from before! Today she had her photos – she was very photogenic! I get to see the proofs on Friday, which is sooner than I expected! Then she had her immunizations. She was very good with that too. The first needle didn’t get much of a reaction, but the nurse said the second one is usually more painful and she did cry at that one :(  But like last time, she smiled at the nurse before we left! She was measured, and she’s currently 13 lbs 7 oz. (50th percentile), her length is 24” (just under 50th percentile), and her head circumference is 43.6 cm (97th percentile). I asked about whether her supporting her own weight was bad for her legs, and she said that it was fine! :)

Congrats to Leah and Barry and Nixin! I don’t have details yet, and I can’t wait to see a picture of your precious baby girl! :D
